Secret of the Mimic Human Characters: Arnold and the Murray Family

A guide to Arnold, Dispatch, Edwin Murray, Fiona Murray, David Murray, and the smaller human references around Costume Manor.

Quick answer

Arnold is sent to recover a prototype endoskeleton; Dispatch directs the job, and the Murray family provides the workshop history that gives the Mimic's setting its stakes.

Arnold

Arnold is a Fazbear Entertainment technician and the player character. He enters Costume Manor as part of Recovery Team 23 after Fazbear claims the remaining blueprints and prototype technology as company property. His immediate targets are the Data Diver, the Mimic blueprints, and the prototype endoskeleton.

The assignment runs from roughly midnight to dawn. His notes and optional messages reveal that he has a wife and child and that the family is under financial pressure, which helps explain why he keeps following the job despite repeated danger.

Dispatch

Dispatch is the remote Fazbear contact who directs the recovery job by radio. He provides access and objective instructions, refuses Arnold's request for immediate rescue after the Big Top escape, and later orders him to return to the security office after the blueprints are obtained.

The ordinary route eventually reveals that Dispatch has been replaced or imitated by the Mimic. That is why later instructions should be read as part of the threat, not as neutral mission support.

Edwin Murray

Edwin Murray is an engineer, inventor, and former owner of Murray Co. and Costume Manor. He created the M1 and M2 Mimic endoskeletons, while the workshop's offices, showrooms, prototype performers, and household machines preserve the wider catalogue he built with Fiona.

After Fiona's death, M1 helped care for David and learned to copy her behavior. After David's death, Edwin attacked M1 in grief. The machine learned the violence it had observed, while M2 later copied David's voice and behavior. This chain connects the family story directly to the danger Arnold encounters.

Fiona Murray

Fiona Murray is Edwin's wife, David's mother, a co-owner of Murray Co., and the company's character and costume designer. She also worked as a puppeteer and provided voices for company advertising and Mrs. Helpful.

She designed toys and performers for the family business, including a puppet for David's first birthday. She later died in the Fall Fest fire while working on a commission, after which M1 began copying her voice and behavior.

David Murray

David Sean Murray is Edwin and Fiona's son. He is portrayed as curious, shy, playful, and fond of drawing, and he is strongly attached to the White Tiger toy Fiona made for him.

After Fiona's death, M1 became his caretaker and copied some of Fiona's behavior. David later died after being struck by a vehicle around the time of his fifth birthday. The game carries his presence through portraits, drawings, recordings, and the Mimic's imitation rather than showing him alive in the present-day facility.

Smaller references and cameos

The manor's records include Edwin Murray Sr., Edwin's father and the previous company owner, and Recovery Team 12, a Fazbear recovery crew sent for the Mimic and its blueprints. The facility contains the team's remains, including members placed inside mascot suits.

William Afton / W.A. is only a cameo-level reference here. Henry Emily is mentioned through the broader company history. They should not be presented as members of the main on-site cast.
