Rocktapus

Rocktapus is a large yellow octopus who is styled to appear as a stereotypical depiction of a hippie. He has long green, dread-like hair with a matching mustache and eyebrows, and small bits of purple waterweeds sticking out of his hair. He wears a blue starry bandana, yellow star sunglasses with darkened blue and red starfish as the lens, and white gloves on the ends of his eight algae-covered arms. Each hand except two holds a drumstick, with the only ones not holding a drumstick holding a maraca and a half-moon tambourine respectively.

He sits on a large blue and brown platform that typically holds a set of drums. His Welcome Show drum set consist of a short drum with a star pattern and a tall drum with a wave pattern to his left, and a small drum on a raised stand and a cymbal on a similarly tall stand to his right. The Rocktapus that appears in the warehouse has a different set of "drums", with them being made out of trash and house-hold items. His left set of drums have been replaced with a large orange paint bucket and a large red steel drum, and his right set of drums have been replaced by a stack of various plastic paint buckets and an upside-down cymbal on top of a traffic cone.

His appearance as a large wooden cutout in the Puppet show remains mostly unchanged, apart from his arms now having targets that the player must shoot to get rid of him.

Rocktapus speaks with a stereotypical depiction of a hippie, having an extremely relaxed voice with certain words exaggeratedly extended for emphasis, and saying phrases and words such as "groovy" or "far out." He has a natural love and attraction for boat parties, and has a distinct hatred for people who refuse to let him party, dubbing them "squares."

Rocktapus first appears as an animatronic in the Welcome Show, having a dedicated drum solo to accompany his entrance onto the stage from behind a curtain. This animatronic form of the character primarily acts as a minor obstacle to the player, with them having to use a hand-crank to retract Rocktapus backwards on his rail to pass through after the Welcome Show malfunctions and shuts down. This mechanic appears again later in the Warehouse where the player must do the same to a different Rocktapus in order to get one of the missing conduit pieces.

In the Puppet Show segment, Rocktapus appears as a final obstacle, summoned to the pirates' ship due to their party. Rocktapus attempts to join in on the party, forcing the crew to work together to stop him. Multiple wooden cutouts of Rocktapus' arms will appear before the player with targets that they must shoot. Once the player has shot all the targets, Rocktapus will announce his leave. Just before the show ends and the room collapses in on itself, Rocktapus' cutout falls from the ceiling and breaks through the floor of the stage.

• According to the Pirate Captain, Rocktapus is a species of octopus actually known as Rocktopi, who are instinctively attracted to boat parties.
• Rocktapus' voice goes uncredited in the credits, leading to many speculating on who voices him.
  • It is likely that he is voiced by either Kellen Goff or Andy Field, as Jim Meskimen is not listed for "Additional Voices" like the other male voice actors, and Jason Topolski is only credited for Digityper, leaving room for Rocktapus if he had voiced him.
• Rocktapus' concept art shows that he was originally intended to have the trash drum set he has in the warehouse at all times, though the Welcome Show eventually using the "old" designs instead.
  • Additionally, instead of the regular maraca he holds now, Rocktapus' concept art shows him holding a glass bottle filled with marbles, likely as an addition to his concept's home-made instrument theming.
• Rocktapus could be a reference to the popular English musician and member of the The Beatles, Ringo Starr. His his role as the band's drummer and appearance with star sunglasses and the long hair & mustache combo could all be linked back to how Ringo Starr looked like during the "Get Back" era of The Beatles, which notably took place in the 1970's, the decade Secret of the Mimic takes place in.
  • Extensively, the character could also be a direct reference to The Beatles' 1969 song, Octopus’s Garden, one of the few songs exclusively written by Ringo.
